Appointed as Managing Director following the acquisition of Cedervall & Söner AB by Wärtsilä, relocating to Göteborg to integrate and manage the €12m t/o Swedish business, with 100+ staff spanning two sites in Sweden and China, including a bronze foundry. Established and ran a green field factory in Wuxi (China) to manufacture Wӓrtsilӓ’s standard, cost-critical seal and bearing products (two of which I had designed in previous roles), leaving the UK and Japanese factories to manufacture the bespoke, highly engineered products.Established a Chinese supply chain of raw materials to the new factory, in collaboration with Wӓrtsilӓ’s Chinese strategic sourcing team, during the 12 months prior to relocating to Wuxi.Key achievements included:🔹 On-time and on-budget delivery of a 1,700 square metre factory, including 12 CNC machines, assembly, QC and warehouse🔹 Transfer of production technology from UK and Japan to China 🔹 Development of a Chinese supply chain for raw materials🔹 Recruitment and development of 86 staff (60 direct and 26 indirect)🔹 Implementation of SAP ERP system (SD, PP, MM and FI-CO modules)🔹 99% on-time in-full delivery of products, delivered to the UK and Japanese factories
