About Chris Shaffer

I have a wide range of interests and I love working with (most) people. I work in my hometown thanks to good luck, hard work, and no plan. I work at Shawnee State University, a regional comprehensive university located in Portsmouth, Ohio. The institution education in the broadest terms, and is also provides important cultural amenities and workforce training. As the grants and sponsored research director, I work to increase partnership opportunities to help the university acquire new resources, and allow the university to be an instrument to help our region. I volunteer as a commissioner on ServeOhio, where I served as chair during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. I was appointed to two terms on the commision by two republican governors even though I worked for the most recent democratic governor. The same day I stepped down from the chair role, I was asked by U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown to co-chair a committee to the strengthen the Chillicothe VA hospital and other healthcare resources for veterans, I also love data. I was a speaker at the Tableau Software Customer Conference in 2012 and 2014. The speakers came from a variety of companies and represent cutting edge analytical analysis.
