Chris co-founded Smartform Architecture in 2018 and has over 19 year’s experience in the design and delivery of award winning major Sports & Entertainment Precincts, Transport Infrastructure and large scale public assembly building projects in Europe and Australasia . As a Founding Principal at Smartform , Chris is currently leading the Sports Architectural Design for Melbourne’s $225m Marvel Stadium Redevelopment.He joined Cox in 2011 as a Senior Associate in a lead-design role for the Adelaide Oval Redevelopment and subsequently established the Adelaide Cox office. He led design proposals in 2015 for the FC Barcelona Nou-Camp Redevelopment submission and was a key member of the leadership team for New Perth Stadiums ( Optus ) winning bid with BrookField Multiplex.Chris has worked closely with the Olympic Delivery Authority and LOCOG developing the London 2012 Olympic Games Visitor Centre Feasibility StudyPrior to joining Cox, Chris was an Associate Director and Sports Team Leader at Marks Barfield Architects (MBA), London for 8 years where his experience spanned a range of sectors and scales. He was Project Architect for the highly innovative award winning Treetop Walkway at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. Prior to MBA, Chris has worked with Norman Fosters, Richard Rogers Partnership and was a key member of the John McAslan and Partners team developing the complex diagrid roof structure at Kings Cross Station London, completed 2012.Chris is design focussed and passionate about achieving quality outcomes. He believes that by listening and facilitating good collaborative teamwork the design process often leads to unique and unexpected solutions. Chris’s specialist skills include conceptual design, extensive use of 3D digital design and parametric workflows. Chris is active with the academic institutions and has led MArch studio design units at Melbourne University and Adelaide University and presented at various industry events in recent years. In 2019 he joined the Australian Sports Technology Network ( ASTN ) and helped promote the Global Victoria’s Sports and Sports Technology capability as part of a Trade Mission to China.Smartform are an architecture and design technology consultancy.
