Chris lead a team of 14 senior commercial staff embedded within the Primary Care Trusts and the Specialised Commissioning Group, specialising in project management and the delivery of commercial interventions for Healthcare services. Chris is experienced in the delivery of own, department and corporate objectives employing cross-functional, collaborative approaches. Chris designed the 2010/11 Collaborative Procurement Work Plan across East Midlands to help deliver NHS provider and commissioners cost improvement programmes and internal efficiencies. Chris acted on stakeholder feedback to improve the process to ensure greater alignment to Trust’s needs as a key imperative. This improved work plan development process helped to meet the challenge of the spending review, and enabled collaborative procurement opportunities which maximised impact and helped offset the financial pressures and ensured patient care was maintained and quality of outcomes were enhanced.

Chris lead the creation and development of the Healthcare Services category, influencing £200m spend by producing specific procurement plans from market analysis, sourcing and purchasing strategies, to building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders across the East Midlands region, creating effective project teams with appropriate networks, undertaking effective project management to ensure delivery within agreed timescales.

Chris took a dedicated strategic procurement role and led and facilitated stakeholders to influence Sourcing Groups (Project Teams). He managed a number of contracts to ensure commitment and compliance. Chris gained market knowledge, developed work programmes and reviewed supply channels.

Chris was responsible for commercially sourcing and obtaining best prices for electrical components, furniture and Nuclear Consultants. He developed strategic plans for spend categories and carried out tender evaluations and high-level negotiations.
