As a Lead Consultant, I am responsible for the shaping and delivery of prgrammes in various environments. During my time at Newton I have worked with the John Lewis Partnership, PureGym, Severn Trent Water and the Home Office.Each of these environments will throw a new, diverse challenge. Applying the same fast-paced, problem solving and analytical mindset is how I remain versatile and effective in these highly variable environments.I have learned so much about my professional character at Newton. I am client centric, always looking for the clients biggest problem to address first, offering the greatest impact. After being offered this role during my first year oin the graduate scheme, I love overseeing and coordinating the successful manufacture & supply of various packages of race car parts. Working alongside Aero, Design, Manufacturing & Logistics to ensure McLaren Racing has sufficient part quantities at the desired specification at each Grand Prix event to compete in the Formula One World Championship.During this time, I have progressed through more complex projects, moving from Nosebox to Front Wing & Rear Wing in 2019-20, then taking on Floor in 2021 as the regulations allow more complex development in this area.As a Project Engineer, I am the liason to all involved in the creation of the parts, this allowed my love for people to come through in my work. Holding all departments to a singular plan is always a challenge, and sometimes impossible, however, the constant updates, communication and stakeholder management is how I keep the team together, working towards a common goal.

My main role during this scheme was Project Engineer for Composite Bodywork. I used this opportunity to learn the composite manufacturing process. Working closely with Design and Manufacturing, I followed the specification of material, cutting of laminate, laminate layup, curing and trimming, machining if necessary, electrical or hydraulic assembly before heading to maketing and logistics for dispatch to the relevant event. I also had the opportunity to spend some time in Quality, managing the inspection resource for composite parts. As aero surface geometry is critical in Formula One, the inspection factilities at McLaren are state of the art. By operating 3D scanning equipment, I could compare directly the actual composite geometry to the intended geometry in CAD and highlight any differences for review by our aero teams. Alongside this, I was responsible for ensuring that any parts that arrived in our inspection area are logged and highlighted for inspection in priority order, this enables are fast paced projects to continue at pace. McLaren's Operations Graduate Scheme is a fantastic opportunity to gain exposure to all areas of the Formula One team, the 2 year scheme rotates around various departments of McLaren Racing. These include: Planning, Quality, Production, Purchasing, Logistics and more.

Whilst working as a Design Engineer, my main responsibility was to take individual projects from initial concepts from the customer through the design process, creating full 3D models, individual part drawings and assembly drawings, along with all accompanying DXF/STEP files. Even after the design process was completed, I remained on hand to provide manufacturing consultation. I was keen to take on other responsibilities on top of my primary role. I made myself available to complete a review on the current system for analysis of the utilisation of onsite laser machinery. This involved reviewing the method of data entry, data logging and creating dashboards to allow upper management to review the data easily.I thoroughly enjoyed my time at SJC Hutchinson Engineering Ltd, working in a well organised, ambitious company with a fantastic learning environment.
