I am currently a scientific glass blower with a focus on vacuum tubes that go into portable x-ray machines. I specialize in glass to metal seals and work with glass daily. I prepare and assemble all the parts of the tube which includes Cathodes and anode rod assembly. I braze certain pieces of the cathode and rods along with other parts of the x-ray unit. Brazes I use are Copper braze, 604, 505,and 721 braze. Other parts include Brazing Pekin Dischargers, and sealed spark gaps. I work with glass cutting saws, cutting tools, polariscopes, tig welders, spot welders, and torches on a daily basis. I run a hydrogen furnace , vacuum furnace, bake out ovens, annealing ovens, presses and lathes. I work with compressed gasses like H, Ar, He, O, and others daily. Some of the different types of materials I work with are: ceramic tubes, kovar, carbon fiber, (W), (Ni), (Cu), steel, (Al) and brass. I meet company production goals while GMPs and SOPs are followed on a daily basis. I’m also currently Hazmat certified.
