As Head of Mobile at New Potato, in addition to iOS + Android coding responsibilities, I work with our service customers on project scope, project management, generating level of effort/time estimates, client quotes, and scheduling deliverables. I am involved in every step of the product life cycle starting with concept, working directly with clients to create software architecture design, implementation plan, executing that plan as a developer, testing, and when necessary providing support for end users. I manage a team of iOS and Android developers, serving as a mentor to junior programmers, including code reviews and task management. I am actively developing and managing of numerous projects in flight simultaneously.

New Potato specializes in product development, with a focus in app-enabled accessories for Apple and Android devices. NPT has created over 40 successful products in the consumer and industrial space. I have been lead developer for all iOS applications and made significant contributions to the both the firmware of their accessory counterparts, as well as the Android companion apps. Products include both in-house app release under the NPT brand and service-based projects released by other companies. I have 15+ start to finish apps in the App Store and several other 3rd party customer apps still in development, or releasing in Enterprise environments.As part of NPT's service business, I took ownership of all app design for both iOS and Android, going from concept to App Stores. Also took over maintenance of numerous inherited code bases from other external developers.Expert in Bluetooth Low Energy to discover, connect, read, and write data to Bluetooth devices. NPT's primary focus building connected products. I designed and implemented custom communications protocols for all connected accessories using BLE, I2C, WiFi, UART, etc.

Our team was responsible for shipping over 100 finished consumer products. I implemented firmware and software for connected accessories on mobile devices and embedded PCB’s. Developed app-enabled accessories using Bluetooth Low Energy and MFi (External Accessory). Developed firmware with iAP authentication support, and integrated firmware with Apple authentication coprocessors. Implemented firmware for media docks interfacing with iPod and iPhone, enabling audio/video playback.Began developing iOS applications with the release of iOS 3, which was the first iOS system that allowed apps to communicate to external devices via External Accessory.

Developed embedded firmware for videoconferencing products in Telehealth, security & surveillance, and person-to-person applications. Developed Windows applications to enhance the products, and gained valuable experience integrating these products into existing customer solutions. Highlights include:- Lead software engineer for the Telehealth branch. - Designed, implemented, and deployed a video-enabled call center solution in the Netherlands for elderly patients.- Development and maintenance of multiple embedded system devices, and deployment of firmware updates to products in the field.- Experienced developing and maintaining multithreaded and real-time applications.Designed and implemented CareStation for Windows, a PC-based application that assisted caregivers in recording, storing, and reporting clinical data for remote clients, over a video-enabled link. Designed to record, store, and report important data such as admission and daily focus information, vital signs, intake and output measurements, progress notes, and flowsheets.

I developed and maintained embedded systems firmware for a suite of videoconferencing products and applications.Designed and created camera drivers for security applications, enabling remove movement via video-enabled connections. Integrated multiple external medical devices (blood pressure monitors, SpO2 monitor, temperature, vitals, ECG, etc) via RS-232 links, and enabled remote communication of those devices.
