Chris is a medicinal chemist at the Fesik Laboratory in the Biochemistry Department at Vanderbilt University. His research has focused on the development of Mcl-1 inhibitors. Prior to joining the Fesik lab, Chris completed his doctoral studies in 2010 at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, with Professor Jeffrey S. Johnson on the development of methodology to employ acyl silanes as latent acyl anion equivalents. In 2010, Chris accepted a postdoctoral position with Professor Craig W. Lindsley at Vanderbilt University where he worked on the development of allosteric agonists and PAMs of the M1 muscarinic acetylcholine receptor. In 2011, Chris accepted a Drug Discovery Scientist I position at the VCNDD where his research focused on the development of positive allosteric modulators of the M4 muscarinic acetylcholine receptors, which led to a collaboration with AstraZeneca to identify a clinical candidate for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease.
