As Director, System Service Line for the Neal Cancer Center at Houston Methodist, I oversee cancer service line strategy, business development, and other system-level oncology initiatives across the 8 Houston Methodist hospitals. I also lead system integration initiatives, continuous improvement efforts, development of system oncology strategy and growth goals, and the centralization of oncology data. My goal is to increase collaboration across Houston Methodist hospitals and functional teams to more effectively identify, prioritize, and act on opportunities to advance cancer care and research in our communities.

Baltimore, Md

As Administrator, Operational Effectiveness for Johns Hopkins Home Care Group, I lead operations and strategic direction for the home medical equipment (HME) and respiratory therapy (RT) division. This includes business development for new revenue opportunities, driving the division’s COVID response, implementing the HME EMR Brightree and other integrated modules, and creating/maintaining an SOP library of over 100 key operational processes. I also serve as the subject matter expert on dashboard development, including the division’s balanced scorecard, which captures key metrics across JHHCG’s pillars of excellence. I drive continuous improvement efforts for day to day operations while also providing strategic vision as one of the division’s senior leaders.

As Practice Administrator, Surgery Specialty Region for Johns Hopkins Community Physicians, I managed all operations, finance, HR, and facilities efforts for a multispecialty surgery site in Howard County. In addition, I supported development efforts to grow the practice, including the opening of JHCP's Direct Primary Care (DPC) program. I also served as administrator for DPC, managing the day-to-day operations of the innovative, high-touch care delivery model. I am a steward of Johns Hopkins Medicine's vision by helping deliver the promise of medicine to our patients each and every year.

As Administrative Resident at Johns Hopkins Medicine International, a post-Master's leadership development program, I rotated throughout the organization and managed significant initiatives across the three major service lines: Core Services, Patient Services, and Global Services. I also supported several large-scale, high-impact, executive level initiatives, the largest being the project management effort for an organization-wide reduction in force. I oversaw all key workstreams of the initiative, such as operations (assessing current-state operations and building more efficient future-state processes with fewer resources); HR (building severance packages and ensuring compliance with regulations through a disparate impact analysis); and communications (constructing talking points for each crucial conversation and building a larger communication plan to promote responsible transparency across the organization). Another key project was overseeing the implementation of Western Union Business Solution wiring service for JHI self-pay patients. I coordinated communication with the external vendor and led a cross-functional team over 6 months from project planning to service rollout. The service reduced financial risk exposure for the organization and significantly cut payment turnaround time and service fees for patients. In the Residency, I took every opportunity to learn from others and to contribute value to the organization, emerging from the program with the skills needed for a successful career as a health administrator.

As a Project Consultant at Twiage, I helped the company achieve its ultimate goal of streamlining ED workflow, increasing ED output, and improving patient outcomes. With a team of executive and clinical leaders across the country, I designed a business model to improve efficiency, quality, & financial stability of observation units in hospitals. The model was selected as the winner of the MATTER Observation Unit Challenge, which tasked participants to develop a product that supports clinical decision-making, increases throughput, and educates patients in the observation unit. In addition, I regularly conducted research on prominent health trends, such as policy surrounding obs unit reimbursement, health legislation at the state level, and ED door-to-balloon times, and present findings along with recommendations to leadership. I also worked directly with both company co-founders on multiple significant projects across the start-up.

Ithaca, New York Area

As a Graduate Tutor for Cornell University's English Language Support Office (ELSO), I utilized my 4 years of experience as a Writing Consultant at Texas A&M's Writing Center to help international students become more comfortable with communication in academia. I consulted international graduate, post-graduate, and PhD students to strengthen their writing on the macro level and build their proficiency with English, both written and spoken. If asked to, I helped students prepare their thesis defense and assist in crafting captivating, informative presentations. I also developed instructional pieces tailored towards giving international students exposure to native proficiency. These included handouts for writers, presentations on writing topics, and training suggestions for future tutors to best prepare them for client interaction. Finally, I regularly shared my years of experience in writing tutoring with fellow consultants. In weekly training meetings, I provided insight into my experiences as a writing consultant and offered perspective into what things ELSO is doing well and in what areas ELSO shows opportunity for improvement. I attended a national conference put on by the North East Writing Center Association (NEWCA), presenting on ELSO's first year and strategies for helping ELL students communicate more effectively.

I was one of two graduate TAs responsible for Dr. Andrea Parrot's PAM 3800: Human Sexuality course. The class helped students more fully understand the physical, emotional, mental, interpersonal, and societal elements that influence sex and sexuality. The course asked students to critically analyze the social landscape around them and to challenge their preconceived notions of sex and sexuality through facilitated discussion. As the Grad TA, I oversaw four undergraduate TAs as they developed lesson plans for the discussion sections of the course. I also ledweekly TA meetings and attend weekly Graduate TA meetings to ensure the consistency and quality of teaching in the course is concurrent with the high standards of the Department of Policy Analysis and Management and the College of Human Ecology. Further, I worked closely with Dr. Parrot in the development of quizzes and exams, the grading of these evaluations, and the development of lecture material.

Upmc East And Upmc Mckeesport

As an Administrative Resident at UPMC East and McKeesport, I served under the Vice President of Operations of the site, who oversees operations at both East and UPMC McKeesport locations. I developed executive management skills through extensive mentoring from multiple members of the executive leadership teams of both sites while also gaining unique perspectives of hospital operations through the eyes of the Vice President of Operations. I championed several high-profile projects at the two campuses, both operational and business-planning focused, while navigating the differences between the two campuses and the associated challenges that each present. My projects for the summer included facilitating the opening of a pain clinic service by securing a grant for the project and conducting an ROI; assisting with GI consolidation between a surgery center to the hospital; exploring the financial benefits of moving the GI to the OR by developing a business plan; gathering data on staffing levels in the Environmental Services Department and offering recommendations to improve efficiency at both sites; supporting UPMC East’s flagship International Training Center of Excellence for hospital leaders around the world; and many other significant projects across both campuses.

I wrote regular reports on the economy and status of the market as well as on innovative investment strategies. Topics included, but were not limited to: global dividends, sustainable spending strategies, and quarterly market trends. I helped oversee the external publication of articles written in-house, the most recent publication being CFO Louie Nguyen's piece "Global Dividend Insights" on the online newsletter "Research Perspectives". I also worked closely with HKFilm, a tier one, full-service film production firm based in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam and one of Soledad's closest partners. I constructed the out-of-country company's monthly newsletters, edited presentations for clarity, and revised website content, all while maintaining regular communication with the company's Vietnam-based representatives.

Irving, Tx

At Kimberly-Clark's world headquarters in Irving, TX, I coordinated various health initiatives for the site's employees. My responsibilities included maintaining constant communication with Kimberly-Clark's national headquarters in Neenah, WI, organizing a facility-wide wellness fair, delivering regular talks on health issues, planning weekly health programs for employees, and teaching daily exercise classes. I took an active role in the planning of each of these programs and oversaw their implementation from beginning to end. I also created marketing pieces for the site's programs including posters, newsletters, and television slides, all of which were displayed throughout the worksite to increase awareness of the health initiatives available to employees. I also began development of an incentive program with local vendors that would reward employees for regular use of the site's exercise facility.

Houston, Texas Area

I communicated regularly with the practices'​ external business partners to ensure Exquisite Eye Care's continued success in the community. I offered biweekly recommendations to Dr. Antony Nguyen on how to optimize practice operations to help increase efficiency in the workplace. I negotiated with Vision Service Plan Vision Care (VSP), an insurance company providing eye care plans to over 60 million customers, to maximize the reimbursements the practice receives for seeing patients with VSP coverage. I also worked closely with hibu, an internet services company that fuels Exquisite Eye Care's website. The site is hosted at www.exquisiteeyecare.com and is accessible via computer or mobile device. In June 2014, I helped to establish a price point for the creation of the practice's website, and I continued to dispute outstanding charges while communicating any necessary website changes to customer representatives. In May 2015, I worked to resolve a lease contract dispute with Balboa Capital on behalf of the practices. I negotiated with Balboa representatives to construct a buyout agreement that was beneficial to both parties.

Bryan/College Station, Texas Area

As a Senior Writing Consultant, I worked with undergraduate, graduate, and PhD level students to improve their writing using the skills gained through three years of peer tutoring experience and regular weekly training sessions. Additionally, I earned Level I, II, and III certification from the College Reading & Learning Association over a two year span. I also designed and delivered presentations on plagiarism, writing clearly, and grammar to classes across the A&M campus. As a team leader, I led a team of consultants through biweekly meetings and conduct monthly performance evaluations. I also oversaw new consultants' acclimation to the UWC and attended weekly administrative meetings to discuss company strategy. I have presented at four national conferences representing Texas A&M's University Writing Center including the National Conference on Peer Tutoring in Writing (NCPTW) and the South Central Writing Center Association Convention (SCWCA). My presentation topics were teaching effective technical writing, utilizing audience-centered speaking techniques in presentations, working with international language learners, and consulting unwilling and discouraged writers.

I oversaw three sections of Professor Della Whitcomb's Supply Chain Management 301: Business Communication I course for 20 hours/week. I held weekly office hours to allow students a time to come in and ask me questions about assignments. During this time, I also taught unique ways to approach the material and studying techniques to maximize time and information retention. I graded the 60 students' weekly assignments as well as their midterm and final papers. I offered additional out-of-class tutoring help for any student that requested one-on-one meetings to help guide their studying.

I worked as an ExxonMobil ambassador at a local nonprofit organization: Recipe for Success. I worked with Recipe for Success representatives to help complete summer projects that benefited the future growth of the organization while also corresponding weekly with ExxonMobil representatives to report project progress and my impression of the organization. I completed evaluations at the 5-week and 10-week marks that reflected my opinions about the organization's internship and the quality of the dialogue between me and ExxonMobil representatives. I also attended bimonthly professional development seminars highlighting professional speakers that had found success in ExxonMobil's corporate system. At these seminars, I networked with my fellow interns and learned how effective communication, a goal-oriented work ethic, and participative leadership are the keys to establishing professional success.

As a representative of ExxonMobil at Recipe for Success, I conducted a month-long evaluation of the organization's March healthy eating campaign, VegOut! 2014. I gathered primary data like registrant numbers, demographics, school participation, restaurant participation, and program completion numbers. I analyzed the collected data and offered realistic, data-supported recommendations and goals for VegOut! 2015. I compiled my findings and suggestions into a 25 page report and submitted to Gracie Cavnar, the organization's founder and CEO. I participated in weekly board meetings where I helped provide perspective on how the organization as a whole could grow in the second half of 2014. Other projects include establishing a fundraising platform for the VegOut! program; optimizing and modernizing the VegOut! website; conducting research on similar programs' success at the local, state, and national levels; constructing a program budget; and reconstructing the organization's data collection tool.
