About Chris Thornton

I am a UK qualified pharmacist with over ten years of experience working in both the United Kingdom and Australia in a range of primary and secondary care settings as well as community pharmacy. I am passionate about improving clinical care and health outcomes for patients. I have experience in a range of clinical conditions including stroke, diabetes, AF, hypertension, asthma, dementia and mental health.I currently work as a consulting pharmacist in aged care and GP practices in Sydney:- I work part time for Meditrax - completing RMMRs in aged care facilities and providing education and training to aged care staff.- I work as a consultant pharmacist at several GP surgeries for the Western Sydney PHN.- I undertake home medication reviews for complex patients for several GP surgeries .Prior to moving to Sydney and qualifying as an Australian pharmacist, I trained and qualified as a hospital pharmacist in the UK specialising in acute and emergency care. I have also undertaken a clinical diploma in Pharmacy Practice and obtained my Independent Prescribing qualification in the UK. My last role in the UK was as a Senior Clinical Prescribing Pharmacist at two busy GP surgeries in London. I was on the frontline of the Covid-19 vaccine roll-out for the borough.
