This cross-platform system consists of a set-top box situated at a patients’ home, a web-based monitoring application and server-side applications that control the overall system. The system gives the ability to video conference over residential broadband technology using the patients’ TV and operators and friends and family through a web-based application. Being a medical system it is highly available and the set-top boxes can also fall back to dial-up connections on loss of broadband.
