Retired from full time employment. 1985 - April 2021 The Royal Bank of Scotland plc.1976 - 1985 Williams & Glyn's Bank plcI am an experienced banker with an unusually broad set of skills gained principally from working in the City but also from periods operating in Gatwick and, latterly, Basingstoke where I covered Surrey, East Hampshire and parts of Sussex.The majority of my career involved roles as Relationship Director, Financial Analyst and Credit Analyst handling day-to-day banking relationships for small to mid-sized commercial/corporate businesses up to fully-quoted entities. I have covered many sectors over the years although in later years I leant towards services, manufacturing and aviation.Relationship Management - Since 1999 I was employed in various front line relationship management roles. These involved dealing with a wide range of businesses from very small to large fully-quoted companies across many sectors. I founded the Crawley-based RBS Aviation Group, was Head of the Transport team, led a specialised unit looking after customers bearing particularly high operational risk (embassies and airlines in the main), looked after a portfolio of higher credit risk customers and, finally, ran a portfolio of mid-sized corporate entities from the RBS office in Basingstoke broadly covering Surrey and East Hampshire.Financial Analysis - I completed three separate terms in pure financial analysis roles reviewing financial statements produced by mid-sized and large quoted entities. I developed a specialism in assessing the financials and internal workings of professional practices that enabled me to develop new-to-bank peer group analysis. I also led the Corporate Banking Research Unit that provided research-driven relationship support to the front line teams.Credit Analysis - I had two separate sanctioning roles in both domestic and international credit teams. In my earlier career I had roles as an Executive Assistant to the main board directors, Inspection Department and Chichester branch.
