As planning officer at Harlow Council, I help assess the wide range of applications that we receive, including Lawful Development Certificates (LDC), advertising consent and householder. I am also responsible for ensuring development management procedures arising from legislation and council policy are consistently adhered to. With the district undergoing significant change as part of its transition into a Garden Town, being able to contribute to the future direction of the area is something that I am truly fascinated about.To be successful in this role, I have strived to develop a number of my existing competencies, including communication, time management, organisation and collaboration. Personal development is very important to me and I am eager to learn more each day by widening my experiences. In 2020, I graduated from the University of Birmingham, obtaining a Class II (Division I) classification in BA Geography. It was through my studies that my passion for development, regeneration and planning grew, which ultimately fuelled my investigation into the regional socio-economic impacts and legacies of London 2012 as part of my dissertation. My time at university also provided me with several opportunities to explore new cultures and discover more about the world we live in, with the field-trips to Germany and Japan in 2019 particular highlights of mine. In my spare time, I like to lead an active lifestyle, whether this is football, running or fitness. It’s a particular ambition of mine to complete various marathons across the world in the future. I find the prospect of using this passion for sport to support others to be highly motivating and rewarding.
