Currently completing the transition to academia as an Assistant Professor Education, whilst completing a PhD focusing upon exploring the tensions, dilemmas and experiences encountered during the transitional journey we take from ‘being’ a teacher in schools, to ‘becoming’ a teacher educator [and academic] based in HE. I'm currently developing academic scholarship for teaching and learning with academic colleagues across all faculties of the University through their Post Graduate Certificate in Academic Practice induction programme. I am also Departmental Lead for the internal HEA professional recognition scheme and peer observation and support scheme. I additionally work across our UG and PG ITT provision, as a lecturer in Primary English and wider curriculum subjects, a Professional Tutor and as a School Support Partner and Link Tutor and External Examiner. Prior to this I was; Programme Leader for the BA (Hons) Primary Education, programme, UG Module Leader and Primary English ITT Lead for Northumbria University and Teach First. I'm a former Literacy Consultant, Local Authority Educational Development Adviser and first and foremost a Primary School TeacherMy research interests focus primarily upon; interpretative meta-narrative storytelling and enquiry into professional identity, being and belonging and the inherent liminality in transition. Utilising narrative interviews, visual methodologies, textual and meta-narrative analysis, developing reflective practice and supporting teaching and learning pedagogy - via collaborative learning, social media and through promoting intentional change all form part of this activity. Additional research interests and areas of expertise are; English and the development from learning to read, to reading to learn, reading comprehension and reading for pleasure.
