Data Warehouse Architect / Dba / Etl Developer
Assumed sole responsibility for the 24x7 operation of an existing 250GB financial data warehouse for this $5 billion/yr business. Processed 80 nightly data feeds extracted from transactional systems and from Oracle EBS Accounting (Customers, Contracts, Service Tickets, Costs, Budgets, Inventory, Payables, Receivables, Employees, Timesheets). Provided Oracle DBA support to a team of 10 Java developers building web and BI applications used by 15,000 employees. Created all Oracle objects and ETL code for ongoing projects. Migrated warehouse from Oracle 9i to Oracle 10g RAC. Maintained Dev, Test, and Prod environments. Performance tuned many ETL jobs. Administered all database schemas, user privileges, security, auditing. tablespaces, partitioning, matviews, sequences, referential integrity, replication, job scheduling. Migrated warehouse from Oracle 10g RAC to Oracle 11.2g RAC. Re-wrote the job sequence engine (Unix C shell). Authored code to replace ASCII text feeds with direct Oracle to Oracle loading. Wrote archive and purge programming. Migrated ETL code from SQL text to compiled PL/SQL packages. Pushed innovation. Authored a new job control engine ( PL/SQL) to execute warehouse ETL job chains automatically sequenced to account for inter-job data refresh dependencies. All job configuration and job execution meta-data was kept Oracle tables, thus allowing construction of a web based interactive control panel to schedule job chains, recover from errors, halt and re-run job steps, guide execution sequence, and view run state, error messages, row counts, start and run times, with comparison against historical meta-data. Introduced new technologies such as DBMS_Scheduler, hash partitions, sub-partitions, redo log mining, change data capture, Oracle Streams, Oracle Goldengate, near-real-time incremental ETL processing of changed records only.
