Currently seeking opportunities in :> General Writing for businesses and organisations.> Specialist Writing for Insurance.> Knowledge Management projects.Over 25 years experience creating various types of written business material - if something is important enough to put in writing, make sure it says what you mean, in a way that people understand !Every business and organisation benefits from using quality written material to communicate with customers, workforce, stakeholders and the public. Technology and new media provide exciting options for documenting information and sharing knowledge, but making the most of this requires material that is clear, concise and correct. My experience of business writing is based on various roles in the insurance industry; these included documenting standard operating procedures and guidelines, and writing some of the ‘fine print’. I worked on some of the first ‘plain English’ insurance policies in NZ, and created learning and assessment material for an innovative capability development programme. Roles in insurance product management and underwriting (business and consumer) means that I understand the principles and practices that drive the business. My most recent role as Information Consultant in Vero’s Canterbury Earthquake Response programme focused on claims, and made good use of both my insurance knowledge and business writing experience; this also led to an opportunity to set up an online knowledge management resource for call centre users in another Vero business unit.I have worked with professionals from areas of law, learning & development and marketing and communications, and I am comfortable working with subject matter experts at all levels. As well as continuing to work in the insurance industry, I am keen to develop my business and technical writing experience in other business sectors and types of organisation.
