I'm a general and bariatric surgery physician assistant currently practicing in Eugene, Oregon. Prior to general and bariatric surgery, I worked as an orthopaedic physician assistant for 11 years. I have completed an orthopaedic residency and am active in medical education with two local universities.As a member of the Oregon Air National Guard, I serve as the Commander of the102d CERFP Medical Element. A CERFP is a National Guard enterprise that responds to mass- casualty incidents, specifically events in which Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and high-yield Explosives (CBRNE) are involved. Additionally, I am the Medical Functional Lead for our State Partnership Program connected with Vietnam and Bangladesh. I have been in the military for 18 years.I am also a co-Founder and the Director of Community Engagement for a start-up company called PathfinderEX. PathfinderEX looks at disaster planning and response through an academic lens, focusing on experiential learning -- classroom lectures, hands-on situational injects, and scenario-based opportunities and exercises -- to prepare individuals and organizations to prepare for any type of disaster. PathfinderEX clients will benefit from our disaster response knowledge and experience.
