Process Control Engineer

Current

San Ramon, Ca, Us

As a Controls Engineer at Chevron, I support and maintain automation systems for a variety of chemical process units. These include Solvent Deasphalting, Steam Methane Reforming, Pressure Swing Adsorption, Hydrogen Compression, sour gas Amine Contacting and Regeneration, and Boiler Feed Water Treatment. The units are a mixture of 1960's vintage units on the Honeywell TPS/TDC DCS platform and 2010's vintage on the Honeywell Experion DCS platform. All incorporate mixtures of networked Allen Bradley PLC's and integrated Safety Instrumented Systems. The primary aspiration of this role is optimization, utilizing process engineering skills to identify opportunities for automated optimization of plant conditions. This happens through both improvements to regulatory PID controls as well as implementation and maintenance of advanced controls (Chevron uses Aspen Tech's DMC platform primarily).Optimization stands on the shoulder of functioning regulatory automation, however, so often this role involves daily plant support, troubleshooting and re-engineering of control schemes that "just never worked quite right," and updates/upgrades to human machine interfaces and process alarming.

Process Control Engineer

Bp

London, England, Gb
