Chris is an accomplished leader in the Pharma & Biotech industry, with over 20 years of experience building and leading technology platform teams for drug discovery. He is currently building the Genome Engineering Platform at Stylus Medicines, a new Cambridge, MA, based company backed by RA Ventures and Khosla Ventures. Prior to Stylus, Chris was at Editas Medicine, where he built the core genomics teams, which included NGS, in vitro mol/cell bio, screening, bioinformatics, off-target specificity assessments, LNP formulation, and iPSC engineering. Prior to that, at Novartis, he led a "High Throughput Biology'' group responsible for assay development, screening, cancer cell line profiling, and siRNA & cDNA screens for target identification. Chris has deep scientific expertise in multiple therapeutic areas, including oncology/IO, rare disease, hematology, ophthalmology, and neuroscience. He has direct translational and regulatory experience as a major contributor to three successful IND submissions and was involved in bringing forward the first CRISPR-Cas genomic medicines to enter the clinic.Chris has a pragmatic science-first approach and has co-authored over 45 papers. Most recently, he and his team at Editas conceptualized, developed, and published novel methods in computational biology, targeted integration, and sequencing. He was the technical lead on major collaborations with pharmaceutical partners and also led strategic initiatives to identify new targets and indications for CRISPR-Cas medicines. Chris is passionate about making medicines that change people's lives and is always interested in hearing about new and exciting genomic and innovative medicine development.
