Whilst the 1st XV achieved 3 promotions during my tenure the 2nd XV were also Canterbury League Champions in 2009 and runners up the following season.With promotion to the English Championship achieved and the transition back to a full time playing squad the 2nd XV was no longer viable and as with all Championship clubs it was discontinued. -
Professional Rugby PlayerHarlequins Jan 1987 - May 2000Orrell - Began my senior playing career at Orrell RFC in the old 1st Division (now Premiership) for 3 years from 1987.Wasps - This was followed by 4 years at Wasps from 1990 where I also captained both the 7's and 10's teams.Quins - I joined Harlequins in1994.Rugby Union became a professional sport in 1996. I was in Harlequins first ever professional 1st XV Squad and as the Harlequins player representative I was very much involved in the transition of the English game from amateur to professional. I played for 4 years as a full time pro at Quins and was awarded a Benefit Year in 2000. I am the founder and Honorary Sec of the Harlequins Hall of Fame.London Scottish - I Played on loan for London Scottish in 1998 and was in the team that won the club's only ever promotion to the Premiership after the play off victory v Bristol.Randwick - I played for Randwick in Sydney also in 1998 alongside David Campese and Michael Ceka.Captained Middlesex to the National Counties 7's Championship at Twickenham in 2001.Also captained the famous Marauders 7's team including a victory in the Portugal 7's in Lisbon. Won in Lisbon again with the Warblers and also played for the Penguins (Thailand 7's winners), Public School Wanderers (Uruguay) and Quality Street Gang (Muscat 10's winners) all over the world.Bracknell - in 2001 I coached and captained Bracknell to the National League 1 Championship gaining promotion to the English Championship for the first and only time in the club's history. -
