After working for 9 months in the general accounting department at Office Depot, I was offered the opportunity to transfer to the Project Accounting department in a very high paced dynamic role where I am responsible for all construction projects in which they relate to all 1500 retail locations, supply chain locations and warehouse locations. It is my responsibility to create projects in the Oracle accounting system and ensure they are set up in accordance with company standards for expensing and capitalizing all expenditures related to any project. I work intensely with several project managers, finance executives and other members of the account department in order to ensure that all SOX controls are applied and enforced for recording and reporting all financial aspects of every construction project throughout the Office Max/Office Depot corporations. In this role I perform major closing functions each month including accounting reclassifications, accruals, top level entries as well as account reconciliations for main accounts such as the CIP account and several accrual and expense accounts.

In this Sr. Accountant position my role was to prepare month end journal entries and update the financial records for Office Depot/Office Max and a subsidiary location in Canada. I am responsible for maintaining and auditing several bank accounts both Canadian and domestic along with auditing daily, weekly and monthly business transactions for both Office Depot and Office Max. Duties also include analyzing and preparing accrual account entries and reconciliations. The main purpose of this role is to assist Office Depot with their merger with Office max and consolidating accounting records for monthly, quarterly and yearly financial reporting. This role has also expanded to include responsibilityfor over 30 intercompany related accounts located in both Oracle and SAP, this responsibility includes daily, weekly and monthly reporting and comparisons checking for variances and correcting those variances along with doing all needed Journal entries and all monthly reconciliations.

My responsibilities in this position include project management, intuitive analysis and costing of highly complex mulit-faceted contracts, computation and reconciliation of revenue and deferred revenue for specifc accounting rules where cloud services as well as tangible goods are required to be recorded and reported in evolving legal structures. Research and analysis of sales contracts under various structures, computation and analysis of sales bookings and related commissions, as well as reconciliation of the same.Preparing and disseminating financial management reports to support the preparation of financial statements, budgets and financial forecasts and maintaining month end work papers and schedules including the proper input of journal entries.
