About Chris Young

Electronics have been a passion of mine since I can remember. Shortly after learning how to say mom and dad, my next few words were 'wire' and 'electricity'. Before I was a teenager, I was building simple circuits, using DOS-based computers, and into CB (citizen’s band) radio. Soon I was installing car audio and remote start systems, building personal computers, and networking them for fun. By age 30 I successfully converted a gasoline automobile to a full battery electric vehicle, and have since completed a lithium battery upgrade to extend the range to over 100 miles per charge. The vehicle has now driven over 13,000 electric miles.In 2002, I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Electronics Engineering Technology from DeVry University. In 2007, I started as a Base Technician for Chicago Communications and shortly after I was integrating state of the art Emergency 911 call taking solutions and Radio IP dispatch consoles along with the infrastructure behind them in many of the Chicago-area public safety dispatch centers. I am a Senior Certified Electronics Technician (CETsr) by ETA International and hold a Network+ certification from CompTIA.
