The Deere-Michelin partnership for Tweels is a public example.• Developed an innovative light equity transaction model with a start-up at UIUC’s Research Park. Deere’s technology group referenced and used this model as a framework for similar transactions in their technology incubator program.

• Led John Deere Turf’s advanced engineering group in the design, build and testing of multiple vehicle platforms undergoing various degrees of electrification.• Took customer needs and translated them into engineering requirements for a battery electric vehicle. I assembled and led the team that designed, built, and tested the vehicle through limited production builds.• Built and managed a Turf engineering lab in North Carolina. The lab supported vehicle builds and the testing of electrification systems.

Vehicles include diesel-electric hybrids and hydrogen (PEM) fuel cell power.• Executed a CRADA with Oak Ridge National Labs for the development and testing of a metal hydride system for onboard hydrogen storage.

• At John Deere Harvester Works I gave work direction to analysis engineers working in fluid dynamics, hydraulics, cooling, and hardware in the loop simulation.• Built and analyzed models simulating complex 3D flow through combines. The results were so complex that my models and results were among the first virtual reality use cases at Deere.• Led the development of one of Deere’s first computing clusters which eventually ended reliance on expensive workstations and supercomputers.

• As chair, led the corporate-wide simulation Community of Practice.• Simulated fuel cell balance of plant flow with catalytic, exothermic reactions and chemical constituent tracking.• Developed new flow analysis and tracking procedures for intake and exhaust manifolds.• Developed new procedures for flow across valve and correlation with flow bench tests.• Performed vehicle system thermal modeling for multiple vehicle lines.• Developed computational battery models and proved out various thermal protection schemes through analysis and vehicle verification testing.• Performed numerical simulation for stress/strain and normal modes vibration analysis for components and for vehicle systems.
