Profile bio

About Chris Brace

I love building stuff and have had a career spanning more than 30 years in the IT industry doing just that. Along the way I have enjoyed many varied roles, starting out as an engineer building all sorts of things, from tiny to ridiculously large.I have learnt much along the way - mostly that design, planning, context and the interplay between them are deeply part of the building joinery. Logically this has led me into the Architecture domain where these dimensions now form the lifeblood of modern businesses. Along the way I found my passion - helping others to understand how strategy and tactics make a difference. Translating complex concepts can be hard and also extremely rewarding. I love that moment when I see it all come together.

Listed skills include Uml, Solution Architecture, It Strategy, Itil, and 23 others.

I also championed the replacement of MAF 3rd party connectivity network to ensure a robust and highly secure solution was implemented between MAF and its vendors and other government agencies. I was instrumental in the upgrade and replacement of the workgroup class SAN to a 3 tier enterprise class system that is able to fully support the growth into massively virtualised environments and hierarchical storage management.I also championed the virtualisation and consolidation strategy as a complex set of tools that delivered great agility to the business and as a side effect provided a much higher level of disaster recovery than was presently in place.I had a strong influence with many of the vendors that MAF dealt with and built sturdy relationships with all of them, which helped support my role and strategic views.
