Additionally I am responsible for identifying our emerging strategic capabilities across the group so that we can plan, design and build new products and services that we either consume ourselves and/or package up for deliver externally to our customers. The E&G Technology Services group is responsible for the continuous lifecycle and operation of almost all of Sparks core underlying technology delivery platforms. It is comprised of thousands of infrastructure and application services spread across multiple national data centres and is arguably New Zealand's largest and most complex managed Services and IT Operations business that both directly and indirectly touches and lives of millions of New Zealanders on a daily basis.I am extremely proud to be part of a team and the role I play for the greater good of all Kiwi's. For this I was directly responsible for the management of an extended delivery team (~25 specialists and engineers) through a PMO of 2 project managers. This included responsibility for the high level delivery aspects that related to the proposed architecture to ensure the solutions were implemented correctly.Most of my time was spent collaborating domain architects, solution consultants and vendors engaged in high level design and liaising with the customers’ architecture teams to learn, understand and share the direction they were seeking to move in.A further dimension of the role was the product architect of Vodafone’s Cloud Services portfolio. I worked both internally and with external customers to promote and integrate ‘cloud’ solutions. I focused on cloud product development, helping to ensure Vodafone’s cloud strategy and product sets were well defined, fit-for-purpose and customer ready. I also championed the replacement of MAF 3rd party connectivity network to ensure a robust and highly secure solution was implemented between MAF and its vendors and other government agencies. I was instrumental in the upgrade and replacement of the workgroup class SAN to a 3 tier enterprise class system that is able to fully support the growth into massively virtualised environments and hierarchical storage management.I also championed the virtualisation and consolidation strategy as a complex set of tools that delivered great agility to the business and as a side effect provided a much higher level of disaster recovery than was presently in place.I had a strong influence with many of the vendors that MAF dealt with and built sturdy relationships with all of them, which helped support my role and strategic views. My role was as a senior Infrastructure Architect within the High Performance Computing group.This was initially on the ACC account developing strategic infrastructure initiatives within ACC’s pre-production environment however just as the work was starting Unisys lost the ACC contract and so myexposure was minimal and subsequently I was placed in at MAF as a resource backfill for the Infrastructure Consultant at the time.

Initially I took on a Unix Engineering role to design, build and support the project implementation of a new Teller system across the Retail banking operation. Once that was complete I took on the role of managing the Unix Design and Solution team of 6 Engineers and an Architect. Shortly after the ANZ bank purchased us my group was restructured and my role was redundant.

Responsible for design, implementation and operational support for a a range of high profile enterprise customer projects. Eventually I took responsibility for a team of Unix Engineers, mentoring and leading them.
