As a Senior Software Engineer at GitHub, I've worked on a variety of teams, including Code Search, Ruby Infrastructure, and Security Products, as well as ad hoc groups working on system stability, diversity, mentorship, and internal communication systems. I collaborated with design and product teams to define deliverables and refine scope, and have represented GitHub in outside working groups with Google and security product customers. As a Senior Software Engineer at BrightBytes, I was responsible for overseeing a suite of tools called the Data Pipeline process. This process was used across the organization as the primary means to import, transform, and export customer data for aggregate analysis and to create a common data model. My responsibilities included maintaining several internal tools, Ruby gems, libraries, and processes, working with the Research and Analytics team on future needs, leading archeology discovery sessions to help understand the evolution, history and use cases for the existing tools, and working on future roadmap planning. As a Senior Software Engineer and Team Lead at YouEarnedIt, I reported to the VP of Engineering and provided software development to the YouEarnedIt.com SaaS platform and applications. My responsibilities included leading a team of platform developers, researching and developing product features using Agile methodologies, providing technical support, managing product deployments and infrastructure, and conducting technical interviews. I was also a member of the platform integration committee tasked with making technology recommendations after the acquisition of HighGround in 2018. Conceived and developed a community website together with my co-founder and partner. Managing a team of volunteer writers, designers, developers, and moderators, grew from a 2-page website to a robust application with over 50,000 registered users from around the world. Responsibilities included server and database administration, development, testing, writing and editing content, and customer support. Technologies used include PHP, MySQL, SQL, JavaScript, ImageMagick, and CSS. Features designed include member profiles, admin reports, forum software, a turn-based online game, external system integrations, tournament hosting tools, moderation queues, and a game rental system.
