Chris became a Police Officer with the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) in 2003 and has over fourteen years of experience working a multitude of investigative assignments. In 2007 Chris assisted the Department with the creation of the Operations-South Bureau, Criminal Gang Homicide Group. This new group combined homicide detectives from the three most active South Los Angeles divisions with a bureau- wide Gang Enforcement detail, Cold Case Detectives and the District Attorney’s office. In April of 2012, Chris was tasked with creating the Cyber Support Unit (CSU), the department’s first social networking investigative unit. Chris is responsible for coordinating each of the department’s four geographical bureau teams. The CSU’s primary focus is criminal investigations, situational awareness and reputation management. Once the bureau model was completed, it was extended to each of the LAPD’s geographical division and consists of almost sixty sworn personnel.In 2012 Chris created a non-profit organization, California Multi-Agency Support Services (CAL- MASS) who’s mission is to assist Federal, State, and Local Public Service Agencies, as well as Community disaster preparedness groups with a multitude of services centered on today’s technology. Through CAL-MASS, Chris has created a secured online technical investigative resource where investigators can go to obtain investigative techniques, preservation and warrant templates as well as technical support information.Chris is one of the few court-qualified experts on Social Media in the State of California, and has testified as a foundation witness in several trials. In addition to his duties at the LAPD, Chris became a certified California Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Master Instructor. Chris has created numerous Social Media Investigations courses, which he has taught in multiple states for various law enforcement agencies.
