• Came to Wenner when their legacy CMS was both unstable and expensive, and its planned replacement was coming in even worse on both fronts.• Shored up the existing codebase so it could be left in maintenance mode while a better replacement was built.• Grew the team from 3 to 13 Developers.• Launched a new, responsive CMS built on Node.js, Postgresql, and AWS.• Reduced AWS costs by 80%, overall operations costs by 75% - offsetting almost half of the cost of the new dev team.• Brought 3 sites on 5 different codebases onto one shared one, drastically decreasing the developer time needed to deploy new features across sites.• Rolled out 3 prominent, high traffic site launches (over 60 million monthly uniques) on new platform and a 4th, new site - all within 12 months. The last 2 were ready weeks ahead of schedule.• Reduced developer spin up time for adding new properties to the platform from over six months to now only 6 weeks, allowing the launch of the company's first new brand in over 20 years.• Worked with Sales to automate many of the custom sales projects, reducing turn around time from multiple weeks to just days, or even minutes in some cases.

• Part of team that moved entire company’s PHP-based CMS to Scala - Play Framework with Backbone. Along with the team of ~15 between New York and Budapest, rewrote our entire publishing and templating platform in 6 months (Kinja). • Did so progressively across a network that serves 100+ million uniques/month and 20+ million page views/day• Built a tracking and reporting system for Amazon affiliate links. It was so successful (over 150% annual growth for past 2 years) that a team of developers was pulled off of new feature work and dedicated to this new revenue stream.• Was then responsible for commerce and affiliate related commerce work as well as display ads and banners across the entire Gawker Media network. • Was responsible for implementing image and text annotations on the Kinja platform (http://gawker.com/ed-snowdens-great-escape-an-annotated-guide-561269855). Also responsible for much of our promoted post system that allows us to insert sponsored posts dynamically into the article flow. • Started working on legacy PHP publishing platform, drastically reducing code complexity and reducing error rates from 1% to 0.005% of incoming requests.• Created our initial monitoring graphs, allowing us to spot network and platform problems within 60 seconds. They currently line the walls of our office for all developers and visitors to see.

Responsible for mobile interface for Speechcycle, Inc.’s SmartCare Mobile project (HTML5, CSS3, jQuery Mobile), a white-label mobile app for cable and phone companies to let customers pay their bills, schedule appointments and more through their smartphone, reducing calls to phone centers.

• Singularity, a project for Dan/Matt Media (Ruby on Rails, PHP, MySQL) tracks web ads impressions and clicks, while interfacing with multiple external services. Created an API for 3rd party ad systems to interface with it. Many other Wordpress and Ruby on Rails sites for this client as well.• Multiple sites in PHP/MySQL for Canopy Commerce (Alexander Interactive). Some highlights include writing modules and completing integration of sales tax payment service for Strivectin’s Magento-based site, and writing a plugin that consumed and wrote to Stop&Stor’s largely undocumented storage facility backend, allowing customers to track their account’s balances, check availability and make payments online. • Created Preppermint (C# ASP.NET, MS SQL), a service for radio shows that allowed them to directly publish stories to their own websites with a single click, bypassing webmasters. Javascript called our service, which returned JSONP.• Wrote 1888CallFree.com, a high volume site (VB.NET, MS SQL) for customers to complete ads for free calling minutes. Required reconciling data from 3 unrelated databases and arcane legacy stored procedures• Built and maintained multiple Joomla and Zen-Cart (PHP, MySQL) sites that are still in use over 5 years later.
