The Food Corner Market and The Food Corral were my father's neighborhood grocery stores. I started working in his store as soon as I could stack cans on the shelves. Learning how to count and give change selling candy and newspapers as a very young boy. Growing up working in a family-run neighborhood grocery store ingrained many fantastic work habits and traits that I use to this day. Having a face, place, and reputation in the local community is something we took seriously and something I have always had. Since we were a neighborhood store, we knew our customers, their family, their pets, their good times, and their bad times. Our store was open every Christmas and holiday so we could be there for the community when they needed something in a pinch. That sense of community and responsibility has been the foundation of my professional career. The lessons learned in those stores as a young kid can never be taught in school and are the tools that have helped me achieve the professional successes and relationships I have to this day.
