I led a small team responsible for representing NICE in the south of England and Wales to support both the strategic and local use of health and social care guidance in the NHS and social care sector. This included:• Working with organisations to encourage the strategic use of NICE guidance and quality standards to improve outcomes across the health and social care sectors.• Developing an understanding of how NICE products are used locally and ensuring that this intelligence is fed back and informs the development of NICE guidance, products and strategy.• Taking the lead on behalf of the whole field team in England and Wales for engagement with social care, principally adult social care.

Responsible for leading and managing the 9 strong NICE field team in England and Northern Ireland including the development and implementation of an engagement strategy to support the uptake of NICE guidance at regional and local level.

Responsible for representing NICE in the West Midlands and Thames Valley Principal achievements• Establishing the NICE field team service in the West Midlands and Thames Valley to support the implementation of NICE guidance This included the development of effective working relationships at both operational and strategic level with local and regional NHS organisations and local authorities. This was the first time that NICE had provided direct support for the implementation of its guidance

Overall managerial responsibility to the Clinical Directors for the effective management of the Directorates of Medicine and A&E. Responsible for approximately 800 wte staff and an annual budget of £24m.Principal achievements• Planned and led the transfer of the Medical Directorate to the newly constructed Worcester Royal Hospital.• Planned and led the transfer and merger of inpatient medical services from Kidderminster to Worcester.• Successfully prepared and implemented cardiology business cases valued at over £1m recurrent, including the appointment of an additional consultant cardiologist, angiography, permanent pacing, rapid access chest pain clinics and expansion of cardiac rehabilitation services.• Prepared and implemented business case for satellite renal dialysis unit.• Introduced improvements in services for acute medical patients including consultants in acute medicine, specialist triage nurses and assessment unit.
