As a Project Manager in Lubrizol's Fuels Technology group, I was tasked with driving customer-facing work for Lubrizol's fuels products. My project work mainly fell within one of the following three roles for my group: new product formulation, credential testing on current products, and fundamental knowledge projects aimed to position Lubrizol as an industry leader in new technologies. One of my main projects was to work on a reformulation of a diesel fuel additives. I was responsible for performing the required testing and data analysis to validate performance and guide the production within the plants. I also worked on fundamental knowledge projects on hybrid vehicle deposit analysis and analysis of a novel imaging technology.

As a Process Development Engineer in Finished Blends, I was able to expand upon my knowledge from my previous role and work on process scale-up and fundamental knowledge projects. I managed pilot trials on proposed capital improvements aimed to reduce cycle time in engine oil additives. Also, I designed an experiment aimed to generate fundamental knowledge on antifoam incorporation into additive packages. Through this experience, I was able to learn, in more depth, process scale-up, fundamental knowledge design of experiment, effective process instructions, and effective project work communication.

As a Process Engineer in Finished Blend Manufacturing in Lubrizol's Deer Park facility, I focused on both plant-wide safety initiatives and day-to-day problem solving. My major project had me scoping a project to track caustic usage throughout the Deer Park facility. Additionally, I had project work affording me the opportunity to help with day-to-day engineering and maintance solutions for the production unit. This included implementing safety systems, fixing operator ergonomic issues in the unit, and creating tools to assist in the operators' daily tasks. This experience taught me about plant safety, engineering solutions to plant issues, and engineer-operator relations.

As a Process Engineer in Polyurethane Dispersion Manufacturing in Lubrizol's Avon Lake facility, my main focus was on continuous improvement for the unit. I was able to modify existing systems to compile and analyze data, ensuring a more consistent batch quality and increased production volumes. Additionally, I worked within the distributed control system to implement more consistent alarming, facilitating safer production. From this role, I was able to learn continuous improvement practices, process data analysis, DeltaV programming, and engineer-operator relations.

As a Process Development Engineer in Lubrizol's Small Molecules group, I was given project work in chemical plant operations and process scale-up. I was introduced to chemical operations by spending 8 weeks working with chemical operators in Lubrizol's Pilot Plant. During this time, I worked on P&IDs, effective batch creation, and the basics of chemical processes. Once my time in operations completed, I was assigned project work typical of a process development engineer. My major project work had me investigating the efficacy of a new catalyst in cycle time reduction of antioxidant production. Additionally, I was tasked with using Aspen to work on kinetic modeling of a process in development. From this experience, I was able to learn about chemical operations, process scale-up, effective design of experiment, and kinetic modeling.
