Lan Administrator Ii

Hanover, Md, Us

Summary:Hired as a LAN Admin II, my primary role was to work at with one other LAN Admin to provide local IT support at Asarco's Mission and Silver Bell mining facilities. Each of these facilities had on-site network and server equipment physically located at each facility, with three T1's connecting each location with a corporate data center in Tucson. Each site also had segmented networks managed by local Engineering and DCS teams. Early on, additional responsibilities were added to my role, including eventually becoming the lead Enterprise Backup and DR Admin, as well as being charged with the task of "breaking the ice" between IS and site management". Prior to my time at Asarco, a large amount of distrust and animosity had built up between the two, and it became my responsibility to undo the damage and restore trust and cooperation. To do this, I utilized a situation were the local Engineering and DCS teams (including IS) had been independently building wireless infrastructure at Mission mine. We were all having issues with intermittent WLAN signal quality, primarily caused by lack of communication and cooperation between the departments. I organized and initiated the "Wifi Committee" as our response, which gave the IS department the ability to work with the site's management and technical teams and the corporate IS department to organize a joint and unified solution. This meeting eventually became the "IT Committee Meeting" and was eventually rolled out to all Asarco operational facilities. This, combined with acting as a liaison between the site and corporate IS, greatly improved trust, confidence, communication and collaboration between the sites and IS, effectively "breaking the ice" as charged.Roles and Responsibilities:• Network Administration• Server Administration• Virtualization Administrator• Active Directory Administration• Application Support• Desktop Support• Backup and DR• Inventory Management• Documentation
