Head Of Global Strategic Technology Partnerships

Hangzhou, Cn

After orchestrating the launch of several key partnerships and my promotion, I was tapped by my BU’s Vice President to direct the most exciting and promising new Alibaba Cloud partners I brought in to get them to market. I led management, strategy, business development, and execution of these strategic partners, including Salesforce. For these partnerships, I directed a large, cross-functional and cross-border team and coordinated with their external counterparts as the companies worked on building the software on Alibaba Cloud and solidify the GTM and operational components to support and sell the products as they go to market. I ensured multiple work streams were learning and advancing with pace towards the agreed upon milestone dates and goals utilizing frequent cadence, follow-up, action owners and customer feedback. I led key customer meetings around the world in tandem with our partners and presented to business leaders at conferences, town halls and roundtable meetings, providing briefs on the progress being made toward general availability of the products.

Senior Manager, Global Cloud Business Development And Strategic Partnerships

Hangzhou, Cn

I made the decision to join Alibaba based on the opportunities I could sense and the ability to go deep in cloud computing, gain more technical experience, renew my interest in international BD, and work in an entrepreneurial environment that encouraged reps to get creative to bring in new strategic deals.By bringing over best practices I learned in my career, I helped build the global Alibaba Cloud ISV partner program and processes from scratch. I researched and pitched to dozens of US-based tech companies about the opportunity to work with Alibaba in new markets. After I qualified interest, built relationships with cross functional stakeholders internally and externally, and modeled out business scenarios and revenue pipeline, I used that to secure executive buy-in to land and publicly launch new strategic partnerships. The types of partnerships I modeled and ran with to execution included strategic collaboration agreements for SaaS and PaaS, OEMs, certified technical integrations, a first-of-its-kind premium software listing in Alibaba’s domestic marketplace, resell arrangements, mutual conference sponsorships, and paid listings in Alibaba’s international marketplace. The new partnerships I brought to Alibaba include Salesforce, Tableau, Databricks, Nvidia, F5, Palo Alto Networks, esri, Deloitte, Commvault, Veritas, Veeam, Opera Solutions, Datadog, Webscale, and NGCodec (acquired by Xilinx), representing direct and indirect revenue in the hundreds of millions of dollars. FY20 H1 highlight is launching a multi-year, exclusive partnership with Salesforce that is bringing the World‘s #1 CRM provider officially into Alibaba’s ecosystem by leveraging its cloud infrastructure, sales, support, technical and product teams, local market and e-commerce expertise, and a healthy pipeline of multinational, enterprise customers.
