There are two qualities that have inspired and propelled me in the workplace since high school. The first is customer service. Whether it's a smile or a simple act of kindness. Or something greater, like going the extra mile or doing the unexpected. The customer's experience defines the brand, creates more business, and generates referrals. It also makes work more enjoyable. The second is acknowledging and recognizing the value of those people you work with, especially those who work for you. A happy team, employees who feel respected and acknowledged, produce greater results. And it can be as simple as this: treat people kindly, give them every benefit you can, and never ask them to do something you wouldn't do yourself. Your team will be strong and motivated, creating better results. It also makes work more enjoyable. These two factors are basic tenets of my belief that people are more important than numbers. And if you treat your people well, be they customer or employee, the numbers will follow. And work is more enjoyable.
