Head of Instagram Direct. I built a small team of extraordinary design talent to approach Meta’s biggest messaging problems. This team of 10 designers focussed exclusively on modernizing our foundations, redefining what messaging means on Instagram for both friends and Creators, and creating strategy for new bets where people come for the content but stay for the connection.

Head of core messaging experiences for Meta, responsible for Instagram Direct, Messenger and Facebook messaging. I led a large organization tackling foundations, new bets for Instagram Creators and friends and family chats, and public interest based chats.

Member of Messenger’s design leadership team, supporting managers and senior designers working on large products such as the core messaging experience for Messenger and Instagram, audio and video, groups, status, stickers, and more. I partnered closely with directors of other disciplines to define strategy, guide the team toward shared goals, and ensure strong alignment among functions and teams.

I led a team in prototyping innovative experiences focussed on Gen Z needs. Our mini-apps were used to gain insights to be distributed as feature and design-language suggestions to the family of apps. Facebook’s updated design language, and Messenger’s simplified app were directly informed by this initiative.

Twitter had a problem of people ‘not getting it’ when they were non-members and new-members. Our team created ‘Moments’ — curated, unbiased, bite-sized full-screen snacks of news so everyone can catch up on their morning commute and find initial value without needing to follow anyone. This was before Stories, and Twitter’s first big bet since it introduced retweet.

My small team at [formerly known as] Disney Labs paved the way into the modern web. I led design for its first video streaming product—the internet’s first ‘responsive’ video site from streaming services—as well as its primary disney.com website and several microsites and minigames.
