Fortress Of Dinglitude Oct 2016 - Present
Shakeshorts is an award-winning series of short adaptations of Shakespeare plays intended to serve as an introduction to Shakespeare or as a study aid for students preparing for exams. Each play is designed to remove any preconceived barriers to accessing and understanding Shakespeare by retaining a large part of the original text, and using modern day speech to comment, highlight and joke about the characters, themes and plot. The plays were written for an audience of children up to 15 years old and each 40-minute piece is accompanied by an optional workshop that allows the students to explore the world of the play in a deeper manner, along with suggested lesson plans and notes for teachers. These resources and workshops were created in consultation with an education professional, to ensure that “artistry meets outcomes.” In other words to ensure that the play, whilst being artistically outstanding, also meets its educational goals.Over the years, we've widened our scope to include other works of literature that were not written by Shakespeare.Shakeshorts was originally commissioned for ŻiguŻajg International Arts Festival for Children & Young People in 2016. The original production was nominated for a National Arts Award and the Shakeshorts brand has grown to 5 productions with another new show being released this year. The shows have to date been enjoyed by thousands of students in person and online (during the pandemic). In December 2023, Shakeshorts won the National Arts Award (Premju Għall-Arti) for Best Work for Young Audiences.Shakeshorts plays on offer to date are Macbeth, Merchant of Venice, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Animal Farm and Frankenstein. Our 2023-4 touring repertoire is Macbeth, Animal Farm, Twelfth Night and Merchant of Venice.

  • Media.Link
    Producer
    Media.Link Oct 2002 - Mar 2003
    Malta
As radio producer, my job was to create, record, edit and co-ordinate the scheduling of a multitude of radio programmes across different genres to be broadcast nationally on FM radio. These included panel discussion shows, political debates, deep-dive topical explorations, as well as shows about culture, the arts and modern lifestyle.I also read the daily 6pm news on radio and the 7pm news on television (both in English). In doing so, I would liaise with the newsroom to choose the top daily stories which I would then translate from Maltese to English, before recording any pre-recorded segments for both radio & TV, making sure that clips were ready to be aired in the control room, before reading the news live each day (weekdays). All of this was done under a very tight deadline to incorporate the latest news headlines.
