As The Post Operational Clean Out (POCO) Transition Manager I was responsible for the facility transition to support Reprocessing POCO preparations and delivery. Responsibility for ensuring the transition from routine operations into POCO and beyond can be achieved effectively, efficiently, safely and economically.Responsibilities:• Act as deputy for the Head of POCO Delivery.• Manage the workforce transition in accordance with agreed site processes, including Management of Change, SLC36, and in conjunction with HR capability.• Lead on design of the organisational structures required to prepare for and deliver POCO.• Oversee the preparation of selection criteria to be applied during the application of the workforce transition process.• Prepare and deliver the workforce communications plan including both internal and external stakeholders.• Develop and implement local arrangements to apply the POCO supporting strategy for knowledge management to ensure retention of knowledge relevant to future plant states prior to workforce transitions.• Carryout readiness reviews to confirm requirements have been completed prior to the end of operations and the transition into the POCO phase and the readiness checklist is completed.• Carry out readiness reviews to confirm requirements have been completed prior to the end of POCO and the transition into the next lifecycle phase and the readiness checklist is completed.• Accountable for the successful delivery of personal programme(s), goals and targets.• Work within the constraints of the budget.• Make decisions on resource mobilisation within the site governance arrangements to provide the capability to deliver Reprocessing POCO and to enable new mission release.• Determine the extent of knowledge management related to POCO and future facility states to be applied for each facility.

My role sat within the THORP Fuel Services Operations Team at Sellafield and supported 5 operations/storage facilities including Fuel Pond storage and Reprocessing. The main objective of my role is was ensure the overall nuclear safety, as well as other safety including conventional, industrial, radiological and environmental, by supporting and implementing site standards, policies, processes and procedures. This includes; leading the department on all Facility Outages (Planned and Forced), Deputising for the Operations Managers when required, Managing the SSOW process as the SME and SSC Manager, Delivering supporting projects to meet the delivery targets of the THORP Programme. Key accountabilities were: • Supporting of specific site programme interfaces such as disciplined operations.• Delivery of improvements such as WANO and PEB.• Supporting of the plant administration requirements.• Provide advice and guidance on specific plant issues and improvements.• Performing overall equipment efficiency evaluations.• Supporting plant modification proposals and execution.• Implementing performance goals and targets for the plant.• Selecting, training, and qualifying/certifying of operations support personnel.• Leading investigations of operations abnormal events to identify and correct the root cause of the event.• Performing "in the field" observations and providing live feed back.• Identifying and correcting poor standards in performance or delivery.• Defining and reviewing their organisational baseline.• For working within the constraints of their facilities budget.• Re-enforcing the attributes that underpin a positive nuclear safety culture.• Lead the development and implementation of the continuous improvement programme for support area of responsibility to ensure delivery of increased performance against defined standards, company objectives and key performance indicators.

My previous role sat within the Site Maintenance Services department at Sellafield. I was responsible for the day to day scheduling/planning of the 7DDD teams within SMS. SMS provides a strategic resource to the Sellafield Site with intelligent customer competencies which allows manufacturing, maintenance, decommissioning and projects to have access to site based engineering resources which are independent of external contractors but readily supplemented by them. This ensures security of supply under breakdown, normal process and emergency circumstances.Key accountabilities were:• Provide a key central role to all areas within site maintenance services. This included scope definition, planning, costing (when required), preparation of works packages and occasionally carrying out the role of supervisor on specific ‘in-house’ tasks. • Support Sellafield’s operating units with a T8 plan for the following disciplines: Scaffolding, Rigging, Lagging, Asbestos, Mobile Crane, Equipment Hire, Radiographers and Safety Equipment workers.• Utilisation of site wide framework agreements. External contractors - I ensured the engagement, deployment and delivery of the resources from these contracts on behalf of the SO in compliance with the site licence and SSP (Sellafield Site Procedures) requirements.• Preparing annual, quarterly reports and monthly KPIs on the performance of individual resource owners and individual operation units in relation to job activities• Apply effective communication co-ordination; liaise with all stakeholders working on the maintenance programme to ensure work is planned and co-ordinated to achieve T8 programmed datesIn addtion to the role I am a fully trained POW (Person Organising Work) and NR (Nominated Representative)

As contract Manager within Rullion’s regional Whitehaven office, I managed a recruitment team consisting of three Resourcers and three administration staff working on a full range of agency projects including:• Managed and co-ordinated ‘search and selection’ of candidates from graduates through to Project/Commercial recruitment level, primarily to support a range of Engineering/ Manufacturing disciplines, including Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, IT, Chemical/Process and Administration, for engineering commissioning and decommissioning projects. • Security clearances of candidates for work within the Nuclear Industry.As Contract Manager, my main function was to retain, consolidate and maximise the level of business from existing accounts. Furthermore to develop and secure new customer/client contracts, through contract recruitment markets and sales activities.
