Overseeing the day to day operations of the U-Haul Company of Harrisburg including 15 U-Haul Centers, 6 Area Field Managers with 140 U-Haul Dealerships, Equipment repair facility, Reservation department and office staff.

Perform a variety of duties necessary to effectively service U-Haul equipment, service the U-Haul Dealer premises and service the U-Haul dealer in an assigned route. Certify and train new and less experienced Area Field Managers (AFMs) on all aspects of the AFM position. Advise new AFMs on current policies, procedures and techniques in the execution of such programs. Conduct AFM business plan meetings. While training AFMs, evaluate and provide feedback based upon performance. Assume a mentoring role among existing AFMs in the U-Haul company and/or district and provide instruction and direction. Responsible for effectively and economically marketing and maintaining all U- Haul equipment within assigned route. Open new dealerships and provide equipment, supplies, instruction and expertise necessary to profitably operate a U-Haul dealership

Responsible for all U-Haul activities at a U-Haul Center, and was primarily responsible for all activities within the effective radius of the facility. The GM is held accountable for managing to achieve results. The P&L, Charts for Success, customer feedback and MCP review all help hold the GM accountable. The GM receives authority from position (rank) in the line of command. The GM reports directly to the MCP. Activities and operations that are not effective and economical are to be closely examined and modified. The GM is to apply the law of the situation, and is empowered at all times to act in a manner to achieve teamwork and minimize stress.

Responsible for recommending, selling and installing a complete towing package for customers. Perform pre-tow inspection of a trailer customer’s tow vehicle for all one-way trailer customers. Use expertise on hitch and hitch related products to recommend required items for a safe trailer rental experience including, but not limited to, mirrors, proper U-Haul hitch ball with safety pin and transmission coolers and other necessary accessories.

Responsible for performing a variety of duties to ensure the smooth and profitable operation of the assigned U-Haul location.
