I work with a team on building partnerships with community groups and implementing advocacy projects. Our mission is to prevent the displacement of the Filipino community in the SOMA and Tenderloin neighborhoods by advocating for affordable housing and access to resources, grassroots community organizing, and capacity-building of residents and community members. As Executive Director, my job is to implement a community-centered approach, maintain the operational and financial integrity of the organization, and ensure that our processes and projects align with our mission and governance framework.

I am a community organizer advocating for inclusive and low-income housing, and the preservation of Filipino cultural heritage in San Francisco's South of Market Area. I co-lead the Mid-Market Coalition and work with other community organizers and community leaders in San Francisco's SoMA and Tenderloin neighborhoods to advocate for housing systems and policies that are rooted in community, participation, equity, and anti-displacement.

I manage and lead the San Francisco Bay Area Pro Bono program and the Silicon Valley Pro Bono Immigration Network. I design innovative programs to better serve immigrant communities, develop and leverage pro bono partnerships with corporations and law firms, and collaborate with other non-profit organizations to ensure that the immigrant community in the Bay Area receives high-quality legal services.

MOR Liberation builds organizational capacities by helping organizations identify and address systemic racism and oppression in the workplace through radical collaboration. Our objective is to help organizations implement sustainable and meaningful diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives to empower individuals within the company to show up authentically and as their whole selves. We are consultants that develop individualized programs—in partnership with internal stakeholders—that align with the organization’s vision for equity, inclusion, and diversity. We work to identify conditions that lead to inequities and design solutions rooted in radical collaboration, operating under a core principle that prescriptive remedies are not solutions to systemic problems. Our phased approach includes institutional assessments, consultations, facilitated sessions, training, and strategic recommendations on equity, inclusion, and diversity. We facilitate transformative experiences that shift systems and cultures and expose the uncomfortable truths that contribute to a lack of trust within communities, corporations, and organizations.

Adjudicated asylum applications. Interviewed asylum-seekers. Drafted legal assessments and conducted country-of-origin research. Counseled asylum-seekers and refugees regarding UNHCR's RSD procedures, their rights and obligations, including towards the host authorities, and the status of the processing of their claims.

Worked closely with judges and court clerks from Thailand, Lao PDR and the Philippines to develop, implement, and assess court processes to improve the timely and fair adjudication of trafficking cases. Researched and analyzed criminal laws on human trafficking in the Philippines, Thailand, Lao PDR, and Indonesia. Drafted reports, memoranda and project concept notes. Coordinated judicial and prosecutorial training programs on anti-trafficking laws and procedures, and protective measures for victims and witnesses in Thailand, Lao PDR, Cambodia, and the Philippines.

Advised clients on UNHCR refugee status determination (RSD) and resettlement processes. Drafted client statements of claim and legal submissions. Researched country-of-origin information and international refugee laws. Developed, designed, and delivered legal trainings to asylum seekers and refugees on rights, legal processes, and protection issues. Designed video trainings and drafted training manuals.

Represented domestic violence survivors in trials and hearings, and prepared related legal submissions. Provided legal advice to clients and prepared immigration documents for Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) self-petitions, T-visa applications for victims of human trafficking, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) requests, naturalization applications, complex family petitions, and adjustments of status for VAWA and T-visa applicants.
