I have been self-employed for the last 26 years in a number of roles. Firstly, I worked in the corporate agribusiness actor during the 1990s in corporate governance and strategic management. I developed and facilitated a number of national training programs for directors of agricultural companies and organizations, for clients such as the New Zealand Dairy Board, NZ Agricultural Co-operatives Association, and the NZ Federation of Veterinary Clubs. I also worked as a consultant for Innes Gattorna Chorn Business Strategists, a joint venture with Gattorna Chorn Business Stategists, based in Sydney. I have worked a commission-based sales consultant in a number of fields over the last 18 years, including real estate, property investment, mortgage reduction, and financial services. From 2000-2010 I worked as a consultant and contractor in the field of business sustainability in Auckland. In 2008-2009 I was the Membership Development Manager with the NZ Business Council for Sustainable Development, with a focus on growing the membership of the Business Council by engaging with interested corporates. Another notable project was a contract role for the North Shore City Council facilitating a community development project called Village Planning in conjunction with the North Shore Council of Social Services. Since 2011, when my partner was appointed Principal of Kio Kio School near Otorohanga, I have re-immersed myself in rural professional networks in the Waikato and up skilled in professional agriculture, particularly taking an active interest in the rapidly developing agricultural sustainability area.
