Represented semiconductor, communications, technology, and manufacturing companies before the Department of Justice, Federal Trade Commission, and other enforcement agencies in civil and criminal investigations, and in complex litigation before state and federal courts. Briefed executive management and Board members on legal consequences of potential courses of action,including the advisability and risks of proposed transactions, investigation response and litigation strategy, and potential settlement options. Conducted multiple internal investigations. Developed investigation protocols, managed investigation teams, interviewed client executives and management, presented findings to senior officials and Boards of Directors, and advised on development and implementation of corrective action. Counseled UltraViolet, a consortium of consumer electronics firms and entertainment providers developing digital media delivery protocols, on its compliance. Successfully argued and briefed Fourth Circuit case, Camara v. Ashcroft, which clarified the legal standard for Convention against Torture Claims; was one of only two cases decided in an asylum applicants' favor by that circuit in the preceding 20 years.
