SAI Global was bought by Private Equity (Baring Asia) in December 2016 and this role was to lead the finance workstream to separate a division of SAI Global that was up for sale to an external buyer. Concurrently with this, I was taking on a Financial Controller role with monthly management reporting of the division (APAC region) and business partnering with the operational management.Responsibilities• Working with external accountants and advisers to provide financial due diligence documents in datarooms.• Write a detailed separation plan to have in place to transition to new buyer from time of sale• Weekly update meetings with other workstream leaders and the Program Manager.• Monthly Financial reporting / Forecasting and presentations to local management• Business Partner to management in new large tenders and operational efficiencies. • Working with Technology team on a transformation (systems & back office functions) business case to reduce operational costs globally.Achievements• Working with internal IT team to create automation of operational data used in revenue and expense accruals to save (1 day) at month end.

Finance Manager (Contract)

The role was a short-term contract to complete the FY17 budget which was done in June and was extended as the company was transforming and upskilling the finance function. This included completion of monthly board reporting. The role expanded into business partnering with state managers & GM by providing more meaningful financial & analytical data to run the business. Responsibilities• Preparing the Imaging budget for FY17 & FY18 (Turnover $400m, 140 sites)• Monthly Financial reporting, forecasting and presentations to local management• Prepare monthly presentation documents for Management Business review meetings with continual review & streamlining of data to remove non-value add information and make managers accountable via identified action items from the meetings. • Work with bank around leasing of high value capital equipmentAchievements• FY18 budget was automated to update into the reporting system (TM1), previously consolidated on spreadsheets. The framework of this will be used for forecasting and budgeting going forward.• Completed funding with bank (sale & leaseback) of capital items, previously a large capex strain on the business

Financial Controller - Assurance, Asia-Pacific

The role was responsible for leading the finance function in the region with revenues of $90M for a mature Australian business in a market leading position under strong competition and a growing Asian business in its infancy. The role included reporting of financials, business partnering with management for driving of growth, management of up to 25 staff in Australia, NZ & six Asian countries, including performance management, motivation, coaching & development. The Australian business was able to maintain profit level (and increase profit margins) dispute reducing revenues (down from 60 – low 50’s % share of market) through efficiencies in back end support and other cost cutting initiatives. The Asian business grew 50% (from $10-15m annually) and increase profits by 150-200% (up to $2.5-3m annually) through increased margins from growth, efficiencies and greater internal controls and governance. Achievements• Implementation of Operational Excellence Program (Enlighten), which identified and eliminated waste in the business which resulted in reduced back end overhead salaries of $1m per annum (10%).• Led the divisional Finance team in ERP Implementation from Peoplesoft (Tier 1 system) to Epicor (Tier 2 system)) in 2015 which was completed on time (6 months) and budget. The ERP system was a cost saving for the consolidated company (lower maintenance & licence fees) as well as risk mitigation in replacing an unsupported system.

The role was a secondment from the Head office to lead the finance team and be a business partner to the local senior leadership team; it included management of 7-9 direct staff in Toronto and indirect staff in Mexico City. As a new company into the SAI Global business, the reporting needed to be enhanced from a non-for-profit into standard of a listed parent company.Achievements • Part of management transition team to target and implement savings identified in acquisition due diligence which included 2 direct finance staff and other overhead staff which resulted in profits increasing 250% (from $1m -3.5m) by end of year 1, despite a small drop in revenue from the GFC that hit some of the non-regulated revenue. That growth continued and the business was $12m + profit annually within 5 years. • Completed an IT upgrade of local ERP system (Navision) to be able to report the various entities in their local currencies (CAD/USD/MXN) which replaced reporting previously which could only be done in CAD as it was a Canadian parent).
