Formerly the Peter F. Drucker Foundation for Non-Profit Management and then the Leader to Leader Institute, their mission is to strengthen leadership in the Social Sector. Served for 9 years on the board, the last 3 as Chairman.

I led strategic partnerships back before most people heard of TED, and was part of the team that helped launch TEDTalks, which have now been viewed over 8 billion times.

Two of the highlights of my time at del.icio.us were a handshake distribution deal over pizza in Palo Alto with Mozilla that helped double our user base, and pitching the entire Benchmark partnership by myself when we were fundraising.

In this combination Business Development and Advertising Sales role, I helped the Entertainment Industry leverage eBay as a marketing and commerce platform, working with marketers such as Twentieth Century Fox, Universal Music Group, Paramount, Apple and Netflix reach and connect with eBay's 150 million+ registered users. Sold the first eBay home page takeover.

I led the Entertainment categories, managing the transaction, platform and supply/demand aspects of the Books, Movies and Music marketplaces on eBay in the United States.

I was VP of Business Development at Half.com, which was acquired by eBay in June 2000. I was one of the early employees of Half.com, where I helped develop many parts of the business including fund raising, content licensing, the affiliate program, supply and distribution partnerships, and advertising and sponsorships sales.

I Supported Audit and Assurance sales with E&Y Partners in the Retail, Distribution and Manufacturing industries in the Mid-Atlantic region, and sometimes CFO's even thought I was a CPA, which I am absolutely not.

I had the opportunity to learn about a lot of the challenges of the startup world - and what I should have asked about before I joined.

I was Director of Business Development for the Enterprise division of AOL, which provided secure remote access and virtual private network services to businesses. This was the time at AOL right after the busy signals, but still during the time of AOL CD carpet bombings.

At Oracle Corporation, I was Internet Account Manager for the national industry group focusing on Cable, Entertainment, Media and Telecommunications companies. My focus was on Oracle's Internet offerings, including Web Application Servers and Commerce Servers, for some of Oracle's largest accounts like AOL and Time Warner.

Learned how to provide value with people and projects and services.

Sold computers by the thousands to companies like Sony, Hoffman-LaRoche, and Eli Lilly. Sold Eli Lilly their first 3,000 Compaq computers for their first Salesforce Automation project, because I told a story instead of lowering my price.

Moved to Atlanta to sell NeXT computers and other PC's to Corporate America.

Hired to run a store in Philadelphia, then helped build an entire region of 5 stores and over 50 people. Learned that I had a lot to learn about managing people.

Cold calling, door to door. Sold my biggest order of my life - dozens of IBM's to TV Guide. Then I lost my biggest order of my life to TV Guide - hundreds of "PC's Limited" computers to a kid in an Austin dorm room. That kid's name was Michael, and that company changed its name to Dell.

Retail computer sales on the floor. For my first sale, I accidentally sold an Apple //c while describing the product features. Learned to "Don't Sell, Help People Buy..."
