Fort Smith, Arkansas Area

From answering phone calls to running the cash register to staying busy on the floor. I was a sales floor associate and I worked in several different departments while also walking around the store making sure the customers are finding everything to their liking and making sure that the store is clean. I also supervise the fitting rooms, while working there or training other associates that work in the area. I work a lot and also during holidays. I always enjoy helping the customers, so much so that I have become friends with the regular customers.

Sherwood, Ar

I was a sales associate, where I performed customer service, maintained 4 departments, did carry-outs, made friends with the customers, answered phone calls, cleaned up the store at the end of the night and made sure everything is where it should be for the next day.

Little Rock, Arkansas Area

Previously I worked at the Sequoyah National Research Center for almost 4 years and while I was there I had the duties of office work, answering phone calls, receiving/delivering mail to the right departments, /running office machines/ cataloging/performing customer service. I was categorizing and organizing newspapers, magazines, artifacts, and sometimes even art work of Native American tribes from all across the country. I engaged in heavy lifting since we began moving a lot of our collection from the main storage to a new storage area within the same complex, when organizing the newspapers and magazines and even when in the art center when we were moving the paintings around and putting them on high walls. Our goal mainly was to preserve and archive all of the works and expressions of Native Americans so their legacy will carry on. In fact, we recently just unveiled a nice park in front of the center that commemorates the Trail of Tears that came through part of Little Rock. I also did smaller tasks such as stacking, folding and putting newsletters into envelopes and sending them out, photocopying books, and answering phone calls. While I worked there, I also would read books on my own time, about the different stories and languages of the different Native American tribes since we also had a small library within the center. I got to meet other researchers, visitors, and the some of the still surviving Native Americans that were part of World War II Navajo code talkers. I loved that job because it went right along with my degree and interests but I had to stop working there because it was a work study job and my financial aid ran out and my school never received enough for me to work there again.

Little Rock, Arkansas Area

I was there right when it opened and eventually began to mainly work on the busiest days, the weekends, when the whole metropolitan area seemed to have a desire for pizza and fun. I worked with the arcade games, bumper cars etc., performed customer service and worked in the office until i decided to work in the kitchen (since I had some experience there) and I did food prep, dishwashing, and then went out to the floor and stayed busy on the long weekends cleaning the whole eating area and buffet, bussing tables and refilling ice cream and soda machines. After I quit to focus on school, they called me over the next summer wondering if i wanted to work there again for a new idea they had, I applied and worked for them a little longer but finally quitting for good to focus more on college and my Archivist job.
