During my time with Corus Entertainment I held three main roles which allowed me utilizes my hard work ethic and my strengths as a communicator, organizer and taking on responsibility. I spent the majority of my time in the promotions department. I had many tasks along the spectrum from helping to create campaigns to executing the campaigns on site. The promotions department was a great place to understand how the radio industry works from the inside. As an On Air Traffic Reporter I would accurately report the traffic situation around Metro Vancouver while making sure to keep to time for the designated wheel. We would also pre-record traffic updates for other stations within the cluster. As a Technical Producer I would be responsible for operating the sound board for both live broadcasts and pre-recorded shows. It would be necessary to multitask so that I could update the website, Facebook and Twitter to include the most up-to-date information as well as answer the phones to take winners for the promotions we were running. Regularly I would input the daily breaks for voice-tracked shows into the system making sure proper guidelines are met.

Our function was to retrofit parks and public areas for safety and aesthetics. We routinely worked safely around heavy and light machinery and used both motorized and manual hand tools. As I got more experienced I was given the responsibility of taking on tasks unsupervised then I was put in charge of a crew on a relief basis.

During my two seasons at WMRC I was responsible for keeping the crowd entertained by relaying the race information in a fun and light manner and also making sure the sponsors got their mentions. It was also my responsibility to make sure the racers were informed about their upcoming races and when to head to the staging area.
