Led up to seven Agile scrum teams serving both the Evolution and Velocity product lines. Regularly briefed executive management team and engaged customers, product owners, sales staff, development engineers, architects, testers, and customer support engineers. Teams were typically chartered with feature level ownership to deliver functionality and performance end-to-end while leveraging specific experience from outside the team as required. When specialized skill sets were required, teams were chartered with component level ownership and produced software and firmware around well-defined boundaries to be instantiated by other portions of the product. I lead teams directly reporting to me as well as teams aligned through local and offshore partners.Focused on Continuous Delivery and Continuous Integration, challenging and often neglected portions of Agile development, to provide prompt feedback to developers. Championed test driven development and automation at the unit, component, and system level in order to strike a balance between diagnostic resolution (pinpointing problems), broad system coverage, and simulation of real-world use cases. Instituted and refined a system of nightly regression testing until it reached a sufficient level of reliability and buy-in to police a codebase shared by 100+ developers. Collaborated with development and DevOps engineers to simplify a complex build system, ensuring that repositories could be branched and built reliably and repeatably.Introduced eight new embedded platforms for customer premises and satellite teleport applications. Introduced technology in areas including satellite communications waveforms, mobile terminals for maritime, aeronautical, and terrestrial vehicles, networking and network management, protocol acceleration, component failover, and scalability across several network dimensions. Collaborated with other squads to produce platforms and components designed for direct reuse across product lines.

Direct a multi-discipline team including Hardware, Software, and Firmware engineers to develop and maintain a world class satellite hub solution that serves multiple market segments in a single scalable platform. Develop world class waveform technology, both proprietary and standards-based, to serve the needs of various types of remote satellite terminals in fixed site locations and in maritime, vehicular, and airborne mobile site locations for both commercial and government / military applications. Develop subject matter experts within the team in the areas of RF system design, high performance digital signal processing (DSP) algorithms, high performance datapath processing, efficient and high-reliability digital and hardware implementations, and automated functional and performance testing.

Direct a collection of teams responsible for engineering development of Layer 1 satellite communications (waveform) modules including L-Band analog hardware, FPGA based Digital Signal Processing (DSP) firmware, and automated test fixtures for development and production test use.

Managed a team of FPGA engineers and test engineers to develop DSP firmware and automated test fixtures.

Primary responsibility for design, implementation, and maintenance of all Digital Signal Processing (DSP) firmware for all iDirect satellite modem products. Lead patent program for the Engineering division. Drafted applications and acted as a liaison between the engineers and our patent attorneys.

Worked as a modem firmware developer in the Satellite Networks Division on the Telephony Earth Station product line. Designed modulator, demodulator and glue logic components for satellite modems using Xilinx and Altera FPGAs. In addition to firmware development, I gained experience on the entire product life cycle including support of software, production test, and system test. Was deployed to several early customer sites to support the integration of new products.
