I am currently an Event Facilitator at Science World with a goal of a future career path in the videogame industry.In my spare time, I work on numerous DIY passion projects which run the gamut from 3D printing (even doing the occasional paid commission design), Arduino/Raspberry Pi hobbyist projects, and even learning about Android app development (primarily coding techniques, but also best UI/UX design practices).I am extremely passionate about science literacy/education, so working at Science World is very rewarding on a personal level. Also, our organization has recently stepped up our commitment to expanding STEM learning opportunities to try and reach every child across the province, and this has only further inspired me to work on those aforementioned passion projects. There are limitless possibilities for projects I can design/modify that could one day help kids learn about STEM fields, and ideally spark that same passion in their minds.I have a very strong technical background and working knowledge of various modern technologies. Plus I'm quite a fast learner, which is probably in part why I am attracted to the tech industry as there's always something new on the horizon to learn and play with. A small sample of what we offer are everything from weddings, AGMs, corporate receptions (conferences, holiday parties, product launches, etc), public lectures, fundraisers, etc. The sheer amount of variety in our clientele necessitates us to coordinate between a plethora of vendor/shareholder types across many industries. As such, teamwork, organizational, and communication skills are paramount.Specifically, on the day of an event itself, our responsibilities typically include (but are far from limited to) coordinating with various deliveries of equipment/food/supplies, moving exhibits, setting up rental equipment, changing building lighting, digital signage, and setting up A/V systems and lighting equipment. This is really just a very small subset of our responsibilities, however the overall goal is to ensure that every event we host goes as smoothly as possible from the planning, execution, and post-event timelines.
