As a Lecturer in Product Design, I teach and supervise both undergraduate and postgraduate students, ensuring they develop strong design competencies and industry-ready skills. I actively contribute to the development, assessment, and management of academic courses, drawing on my extensive experience in Materials Technology and Production Processes.Key Responsibilities: I deliver engaging lectures and practical workshops, providing students with comprehensive knowledge and skills in Product Design. I design and develop course content that aligns with current industry standards and emerging trends. Leading modules, I provide timely feedback and support to help students achieve their academic goals. I engage in research and scholarly activities, often collaborating with colleagues for innovative projects. Providing in-person studio tutoring in design practise and design context across all undergraduate year groups in Product Design, through 1:2:1 tutorials, seminars, and lectures.Module leadership on Context & Identity for second year Product Design Students. Developing students’ contextual & writing skills, challenging them to critically reflect, evaluate, analysis and synthesis on decision making, design process and design discipline. Contextualising and justifying key stages during the design process in producing solutions, which is summarised within an editorial design essay.Dissertation & Thesis support for final year Product Design Students.Developing lecture series on Design Practise, highlighting the importance of contextual awareness, of global issues and history of design processes, encouraging students to think about and develop individual design methodologies in solving increasingly more complex problems that are appropriate for their thinking.Supporting full-time staff in planning and delivering new content. Developing and delivering Design & Innovation in Business, Summer School programmes to international cohorts focused on interpersonal, interdisciplinary, and intercultural collaboration through studio work.

Working in conjunction with stakeholders and senior managers to improve upon existing computer-based systems across the company locally and globally. Over this year I was managing the development of a new CAD system and automated electrical design strategy. Both systems allow designers to consistently manage design data and properties, and to quickly develop electrical drawings driven by database. I continuously update & improve upon ‘best practices’ within design for SolidWorks. Additionally, I establish long term goals for introducing sustainability, life-cycle analysis, standardisation of electrics and componentry to reduce overall business impact, streamlining what is used and how it is used. I work alongside purchasing departments to introduce sustainable materials into the design process. Furthermore, I trained design and development staff in SolidWorks best practices and CAD management, producing training guides as well as seminars and one to one training.

I supported Design Managers designing plastic injection, plastic; wood & metal fabrications to a production standard for mass and batch Production for cosmetics Point of Sale. I was responsible for developing cost saving design solutions, producing technical drawings and documentation in quick time frames, approving production first offs and overseeing assembly on the production line.

My role was to design from concept to production for products to be sold on the German market. Throughout my time my responsibilities included initial concept design from initial sketches to preliminary CAD visuals. Prototyping & sketch modelling, model making, project management, off-tool quality control and checking Engineering data from suppliers, which included visits to mainland China meeting manufacturers. The products I developed ranged from kitchen appliances & personal care goods to suitcases, games controllers, promotional items and final branding and marketing graphics.
