I started my career in 2005 at Insight Investment in London, where I worked for five years in Insight’s market-leading LDI team, structuring, presenting and executing customized investment solutions. In 2007 I was promoted to a discretionary portfolio management role, in which I assumed full fund management responsibilities for a number of large pension and insurance clients.In 2011 I moved to Tokyo for personal reasons, where I now work as a member of BNY Mellon’s Investment Strategy & Solutions Group (ISSG). In this role, I engage with many of the company’s largest and most advanced clients across all parts of Asia-Pacific, working in co-operation with them to resolve their investment strategy issues. This requires a comprehensive knowledge of the theory and practise of asset allocation, risk management and solutions structuring. It also means understanding institutional investors’ specific circumstances and objectives, over the long-term as well as in the current market and economic environment. I have written and published a number of client-facing research papers, on issues pertinent to Asian or to global investors. These have included topics such as rising interest rate protection, Smart Beta, credit disintermediation, European quantitative easing and Japanese government bond yields, amongst others. I frequently presents on these and other topics at investment industry events. Alongside this, I'm an intensive reader of industry and academic research on finance and (where time allows) macro-economics, whilst I also stay abreast of developments within the asset management industry, both amongst clients and competitors.
