These two concentrations have given me a wealth of skills to take out into the workforce, including video production skills, creative and professional writing prowess. Alongside this, I've been adept with software programs such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Premiere Pro.While at Western I had the pleasure to work as both a Staff Writer and Copy Editor for the Western Carolinian, a local newspaper that covers events at Western Carolina University and the wider area. This gave me an opportunity to interview people from all walks of life, as well as do intensive research and write articles and content on a wide array of subjects. These included film reviews, personal interviews, and technical summaries of programs and events within the area.I also regularly write and contribute to ScreenRant, an SEO-based entertainment website that specializes in pop culture and entertainment. Movies are my passion, and getting to write content articles about something I love has only strengthened my dedication to writing as a career field and a passion.Earlier this year, I had the opportunity of presenting a research paper on the effects of capitalism on the environment during the 2019 senior seminar here at Western. Screenwriting is another passion of mine, and I frequently write both short film scripts as well as feature films for production.Speaking of which, I've worked on a number of successful short film sets in a number of different roles, from PA to director, and everything in between. In this time I've cultivated considerable on-set skills as well as expertise working different styles of cameras, including the Black Magic Ursa, and the C200 and 500 model cameras. Film is my greatest passion and I take any opportunity I can to work on my skills as both a screenwriter and director.I've also worked several jobs in the food service industry, developing skills such as time-efficiency and a lack of stress under pressure. All of these skills together make me an invaluable and efficient worker in the workforce.
