Way back in my 20s as a homeless person on the streets of London I used to watch people go by, wondering who they were, where they lived, and what jobs they were going to. I'd look at buildings and wonder who worked there, at trains, buses and cars, trying to guess where they were going to. I was endlessly fascinated in people, society, places. Deep down I always knew that this fascination would (eventually) become my own destination. It took 20-odd years for this vision to become a reality, having built a portfolio of successful websites in many different sectors, including transport, leisure, home improvement and demographics. Eventually I had a "EUREKA" moment in 2017, and set about consolidating millions of rows of data into a new business called ZoomLocal (www.zoomlocal.co.uk), which produces insightful information about any neighbourhood in England and Wales (Scotland next year).These downloadable, 50-page neighbourhood reports give home buyers a comprehensive insight into a neighbourhood, and include crime rates, property prices/trends, demographic data, local concerns, amenities, environmental issues, and much, much more. I've poured my heart and soul into ZoomLocal. I want it to set the standard and become a big part of the house buying process. And so, I feel that I have come full circle on my original ambitions, but my journey has only just begun. In 2019 I want to raise the bar with ZoomLocal and take it onto the national stage. ZoomLocal is an ambitious project. But it's one that I'm incredibly proud of, because it's a big part of my life journey. Journeys make life so incredibly fascinating. As a nod to my original journey, I started homeless charity www.KipBag.com as a way of giving something back to those who are less fortunate. Along with co-founders Amy Wood and Eric Farrow, we distribute homeless packs (sleeping bag / toiletries) to rough sleepers across the UK.
